I would just like to take the time to post these old drawings that i did from 2003-2005 (I was 13, 14 and 15) Haha, I hope to God you guys see an improvement in my current work (online gallery)
For those of you who have asked me “what is it like to make a living off being an artist?” I’d have to answer you with a confident “I don’t know” because, frankly, I have no idea what that’s like. I am still struggling to stay alive with multiple freelance and part time jobs and I haven’t even come close to making it yet.
But if ever you are feeling down because you aren’t “making it” or if you are worried about money, living or how the hell are you going to afford your next trip to the grocery store (like I really was today) just take a look back on your old drawings. Drawings from 10, 5 or even 1 year ago.
See how far you’ve come? Isn’t it amazing how we look at ourselves now and feel like failures and yet compared to what we used to be we are everything we’ve ever wanted to be. As we grow our goals are set higher and more out of reach. But when we are able to look back at how far we’ve come maybe your goals for the future don’t really seem that impossible.
Look at how far we’ve come. Can you imagine where you be in a few years? If your 13 year old self met you today, something tells me that they would think you were pretty damn cool.
Just don’t give up, ok? (and that goes for anyone with any goals, not just the artists)
